Barbecue at Kathrin´s house

Our colleague Kathrin has organised a BBQ in her house for our whole team yesterday. There was a lot of tasty food because everybody brought something. I supplied the whole house with Czech beer as this was the easiest typical Czech thing that I could brought and it suited well to the Käsekrainer sausages from Gerhard, beef steaks from Christian or bulgur salad from Cigdem. In the first picture I am with Kathrin and Oliver, in the second with my turkish colleagues Sare and Cigdem and in the third you can see the whole band :-).

Antverpen

This weekend was really cool. I did some travelling, yeah! On Sunday I left Bonn early in the morning and went through Brussels to Antverpen by train. The journey went ok and I enjoyed my day full of sightseeing. I really liked the historical centre of Antverpen-the City where Rubens was born and living for years. I did not see so much of the big port, just few ships, but I had a boat trip on the Schelda river which was nice. The weather was hot, even too hot for a City walk but I enjoyed it and came back to Bonn utterly tired and prepared for another week of work. I tasted a Belgium waffel and bought some 10% alcoholic beer home just for taste. We tried it out today with my flatmate Christian and it was good - little bit sweet and strong. Antverpen is also very famous for its diamond shops - well I´ve seen some. In the pictures - skyscrapers with EU flag in Brussels, me in the Rubens garden, ships in Antverpen.

Koblenz

On Saturday 26 July I visited Koblenz which is a City situated little bit further up the Rhine at the junction with the Mosel. This point is called "Deutsches Ecke" (German Corner). I took some pictures there. The centre offered a lot of sights. I went to Koblenz by train and took my bike with me and then I was riding through the City. The weather was hot and stuffy. When I came back to Bonn a storm caught me but luckily I wasn´t far from home so I did not get so much wet :-).

T-Mobile parties

The interns of T-Mobile meet regularly every 2 weeks at the so-called Stammtisch. This time it was in Brauhaus Bönsch where they make their own beer and it was an evening full of fun. And on Friday I went to farewell party of Valentin. Great party, great evening but it really made me tired after the whole working week.

Discover Management Program - IEDC school of management, Bled

This 9day course was the best course ever. It was really demanding because at some days we were working from 9am til 2am at night and almost without breaks but it was definitely worth it because I met very interesting and nice people there and afterwards there was even time to party or go rafting to the Sava river :-). We also rented some boats and went to the island on the lake in Bled and one evening we visited Ljubljana. There were very good teachers and whole course was perfectly organised.
In total 60 participants from 16 countries - very interesting was the global village presentation where we tasted a lot of kinds of traditional alcoholic drinks :-) and everybody was speaking about his country.

Travelling to Slovenia

I left Bonn for 10 days to enjoy my prize from the case study competition I won in April this year. The flight from Bonn/Köln airport was very safe and comfortable. I flew to Graz and had some time to walk through the City centre. Afterwards my journey continued by train to Ljubljana. The train went really slowly through Slovenia so I had time to watch around. In Ljubljana I only had time to catch the bus going to Bled, though. Bled is a really beautiful place. I spent great 9 days there and I will tell you about that in my next post. On the way back I had time to see Ljubljana and Zagreb- Ljubljana is much nicer according to my opinion but I only had little time in Zagreb which is necessary to say.

Trip to Cologne and gay-parade:-)

Today I decided to make a trip to Köln am Rhein. I actually chose exactly the day when gay and lesbian couples organise their parade here. I went there by train in the afternoon and walked through the centre, along the Rhine. There were crowds of people everywhere - gays, lesbians, straight couples - all the beer gardens were absolutely full :-)) but the City was in a very good spirit. Oh yes, I almost forgot. I also have a new flatmate since last Tuesday. His name is Sebastian and he is doing his internship at Deutsche Post. He comes from the surroundings of Düsseldorf.

Festival Rheinkultur

Rheinkultur is a one-day event organised every year in the park Rheinaue in Bonn. It is a big mix of music - all styles at four stages but mostly German bands which I don´t know very much. Everybody was talking about it as about a great fun so I decided to join the others. The main advantage was that entrance was free :-). I enjoyed it although I didn´t know the interprets. You can see some pictures here and more of them are in my album in facebook - I just added the links to my photo albums on the right hand side.

Euro final at T-Mobile forum

I went to see the final match between Germany and Spain on Sunday evening. The T-Mobile main forum was opened for this special event and I met with some other interns as well. There was a fantastic atmosphere til the time when Germans lost, of course.
