Boat Trip to Königswinter & Drachenfelsen

Sunday was a really hot day and I set up for a boat trip to Königswinter which is a small town at the feet of Siebengebirge (mountains where the legend about the German hero Siegfried and Kriemhilda and the Nibelungenring should take part). I went up to the Drachenfelsen hill and visited the so-called Drachenschlo3. There was a marvelous view on the Rhine valley -simply beautiful. The ship was for free because I got some free tickets at the Citizen office :-). My flatmate Eva left and I am expecting a new colleague to come. In the pictures you can see: the view from Drachenfelsen and Drachenschlo3, Posttower of Deutsche Post in Bonn and Königswinter from the ship.

Saturday sightseeing - Rhein and Beethovenhaus

My flatmate Eva had her husband and her friends for visit here for the weekend so I sat down with them on Friday evening. On Saturday I slept little bit longer, I went jogging and then to the City centre. I had an excursion to the Beethoven house and I saw the room where he was born but it didn´t make any special impression on me :-)). I went then to the Rhine by bike and then ended up in the park Rheinaue again where I was reading a book and having rest for some time.
In T-Mobile and Germany the bureacracy is killing me but I will survive :-). One thing is really good - we have a table soccer in the lobby. My collegues spend their breaks there :-).

Company Sommerfest and Football Championship

Today my fourth day in T-Mobile is over. I already start getting more tasks and real work. On Monday I will hold a short presentation to my coleagues - I should talk about the reports I had to read this week. The first week is really tiring, though. Yesterday there was a company barbecue called "Sommerfest" and afterwards everybody went watching the game between Germany and Turkey. It is a real Euro Cup madness here. Today I got this picture to my mailbox from one of my colleagues.
I also got to know some of the interns working here. Majority of them are Germans but there are also a lot of other nations (Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, CZ, Turkey, Taiwan, Netherlands, Hungary, etc..). We spent some time together at lunch on Wednesday and then in the evening at Sommerfest. I still did not succeed to arrange all oficialities here but I hope I will manage to finish this next week. The next picture shows me with some of the interns.

First day at T-Mobile Headquaters

Hurrah, I am already in working process - for now I am overwhelmed with learning and reading lots of pages, presentations and reports. But I hope that I will get my desk and PC soon. Maybe tommorrow :-)). Today I was totally lost in the big building and I always have to be accompanied by somebody because I don´t have my entrance card yet. It is not very easy to be completely new in such a huge enterprise but I will get used to it. Today it was very confusing but everybody in our Supply Chain department was very nice to me. There is a big canteen and the meals are very tasty and they have a great choice - prices are convenient - same level as if I went to a restaurant in CZ. They also have a cheap coffee in the cafeteria. In the afternoon my boss released me little bit earlier and told me I can study at home. So I was reading in the garden and afterwards jumped into the swimming pool :-)).

First day in Bonn

Hello, hello! Let me bring you the very first news from a calm and beautiful place in Rheinland called Bonn. When I arrived today it was cloudy but in the afternoon the sun came out and the weather was just great. The journey with Student Agency bus went without any problems as usual and I succesfuly found the place where I am living now. Brigitta, the owner of the house where I live, is very nice to me and so is her husband Albert. They are both self-employed and work from home. Albert is doing some data transfer operations for various firms. Their house is beautiful and has a great location and it is not far from the centre at all. Well, Bonn is really small as I found out today so nothing can be called as very distant here :-)), except for the long cycling routes along the Rhine. Speaking about cycling that´s a big phenomenon here like in the Netherlands. My host family has also a lot of bicycles and they already provided me with one of them and I can borrow it anytime. So today I spent four hours in the afternoon with this bike and went to the centre and then along the Rhine and I crossed a big bridge that led me to the seat of T-Mobile where I start working on Monday. The so-called T-Mobile Campus looks really good. You can see it little bit from the enclosed picture. In the centre I went to a tourist office to get a map and then went through the main streets and squares filled with crowds of people and dozens of crowded cafés. I also saw Beethoven´s birth place but the house is nothing special. The city is small but the parks and green around Bonn are huge. I think it is a very nice place to live. Goodnight to you all and keep reading my blog :-). Hugs, Olinka.
