German course and Orientation started

Next news, German course and Orientation week started. So I am going to do a lot of sightseeing and homework. Concerning the German group I got in, most of the Czech people are there because we all speak well and also some other CEMSies.
There is quite everyday some party. Yesterday I was cooking with Anita and Andrea for about 20 people, it was great, we were drinking and then went to a club for the Karaoke night.

We were at Swarovski Shop today and we did a sightseeing tour on walk in the City centre around the Stephansdom and the Kärntner Stra3e. Tomorrow I am going to the Austrian Parliament.

First sightseeing

I have been in Vienna already 10 days but due to the very intensive seminar I could not go to the City centre until Sunday. We met at Stephansplatz with the Hungarian girls Anita and Andrea and went to the "Dankbarfest" where the typical austrian products were sold. We tasted "Zwiebelmarmelade" and "Sturm" (früher Wein). We tried bull-riding which was really fun. We walked round "Hofburg" and "Museumsquartier". Also Karol and his friends joined us later.
On Monday there was the first Erasmus party in the famous club "Kaiko". We met there other Czech people who came to Vienna for the second blocked seminar which they are attending right now.

My university (WUW) and my room!

Hello everyone. In one of the pictures you see the main building of WUW. It is nothing special, really, but I just wanted to show you my present university. And another two pictures show where I live. I have a nice room in Haus Panorama in Brigittenau. My room is single but there is a french girl next to me in the same flat, her name is Veronique (in the picture). She is really nice, we don´t have any problems. I am now attending course of German and I have orientation program. Wait for further news!

End of the blocked seminar, first trip

I have already finished the blocked seminar and I would say that very succesfully. Our presentation on Friday was evaluated with the best grade and the others did also very well. My team had 7 members from 5 countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Denmark and Romania). We presented our results in front of the management of BIG (Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft) and our task was to create a possible strategy for them how to enter CEE markets.
In the evening we went to restaurant Rebhuhn, we had a typical austrian meal and it was a very nice evening again.

On saturday 15th September they organised a trip for us, to the Convent in Melk and Burgruine Aggstein where I have never been before. In the afternoon we went for winetasting in Wachau and then back to Vienna where we made a small goodbye party for ourselves. Unfortunately some people came only for the blocked seminar and they are not going to spend their fall term here. I really liked Enrico (Italy) and Gunther (France) and Ildiko (Hungary) who I will miss here a lot. But let´s move on. I will post some news again, in few days.

First days in Vienna

I came to Vienna on Sunday, 9th September. In the evening there was the welcome session of the CEMS Blocked seminar which I am attending now. It is really a very intensive and exhausting week for me but it is also a very practical and interesting opportunity and I have really learned so many new things here. The seminar deals with the topic: Public Private Partnership (PPP). CEMS students in Vienna are from 7 countries, all of them very nice, intelligent and open. I really enjoy being in their company. I have never seen so much talented and motivated people like here.
On Monday we had a small party in the Kaiko Club at Währinger Gürtel. I made a picture with the Czech boys (Martin, Martin, Pavel) who are actually here with me. Then there are the Hungarian girls - Anita and Ildiko. On Tuesday we went for lunch to the restaurant "Pia Maria"-I am here with Karol, Hans-Peter and Pavel (from left).

My way to CEMS

I was chosen to participate in the one-year CEMS MIM programme which is exclusive to students studying at the member schools in a Master's in Management programme although I have been studying International Trade :-o. My university, the University of Economics in Prague, is the member of the Community of European Management Schools.
I will spend the fall term 2007 in Vienna at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration and I am really looking forward to it. For the spring term I will be back in Prague.
This page should reflect my CEMS experience. It could be useful for someone who actually considers to apply for the CEMS MIM programme. This programme is really unique because it bridges university education and business expertise, thus offering keen insights into management best practices. And of course I have created this blog for my friends who are curious what I am doing.
