First day in Bonn

Hello, hello! Let me bring you the very first news from a calm and beautiful place in Rheinland called Bonn. When I arrived today it was cloudy but in the afternoon the sun came out and the weather was just great. The journey with Student Agency bus went without any problems as usual and I succesfuly found the place where I am living now. Brigitta, the owner of the house where I live, is very nice to me and so is her husband Albert. They are both self-employed and work from home. Albert is doing some data transfer operations for various firms. Their house is beautiful and has a great location and it is not far from the centre at all. Well, Bonn is really small as I found out today so nothing can be called as very distant here :-)), except for the long cycling routes along the Rhine. Speaking about cycling that´s a big phenomenon here like in the Netherlands. My host family has also a lot of bicycles and they already provided me with one of them and I can borrow it anytime. So today I spent four hours in the afternoon with this bike and went to the centre and then along the Rhine and I crossed a big bridge that led me to the seat of T-Mobile where I start working on Monday. The so-called T-Mobile Campus looks really good. You can see it little bit from the enclosed picture. In the centre I went to a tourist office to get a map and then went through the main streets and squares filled with crowds of people and dozens of crowded cafés. I also saw Beethoven´s birth place but the house is nothing special. The city is small but the parks and green around Bonn are huge. I think it is a very nice place to live. Goodnight to you all and keep reading my blog :-). Hugs, Olinka.

Austria Goodbye Party

I cannot believe this term ran so short away. Well, but I am already looking forward to being back home and in Prague. On Tuesday Véro and me organized a goodbye party which was really crowded and succesfull. In the afternoon Andi came and we went for the last walk through the Centre. I said goodbye to everybody and it was really sad at the end.
My semester in Wien was absolutely wonderful and I hope to stay in touch with all the people I have met and I hope that the next CEMS semester in Prague will be as interesting as this one.

Donauturm

On Monday I suddenly realized my stay in Vienna is getting shorter and shorter. I started packing my stuff and finishing my plans in Vienna. In the evening I went with Lada and some of his friends to see the view from the Donauturm which is a high tower next to the UNO-City. The city at night looked great. We were sititing in a restaurant which is turning around - popular attraction in most capitals.

Lucinka and Kajinka in Vienna

On Friday evening my dear friends from the Harmach family came to visit me :-)). My sister should come as well but she could´t make it because of her illness. We had a nice time but the weather was not very steady, it was windy and it was raining almost whole Sunday. That´s the reason why I am not feeling very well today. I´ve got some cold. Anyway we did some sightseeing and shopping, we went to the Wien Museum at Karlsplatz and to Hundertwasserhouses. On Friday it was also the very last evening of Martin Klimes in Vienna so we cooked a dinner for him.

Manon Lescaut at the Wiener Staatsoper

Finally we went to the Vienna State Oper. There was a ballet "Manon Lescaut" - the performance was really great. Participants: Véro, me, Martin and his girlfriend. I like especially the foyers in the building - they are enourmously decorated and painted. We were standing but with almost the best possible view we could have.

Salzburg!!!!

This was one of the best trips during this semester, for sure. Although we had to get up at 5am :-(( it was definitely worth it. We arrived to Salzburg at 9:50 and started immediatelly our walking tour. Salzburg is not very large so we could reach any interesting point quite soon. I ´ ve been to Salzburg once with my parents but did not remember too much. Anyway this time I´ve seen everything again and even more I guess. We went to the Salzach river and Schloss Mirabell, we saw Mozart´s Geburtshaus in Getreidegasse and the Main Square, the Dom and then we climbed up to the Festung Hohensalzburg where we had a guided tour and visited the Marionettenmuseum. The weather was very nice and sunny and we saw the Alps around Salzburg from the top of the Tower. Then we went down with a funicular and had lunch in an Indian restaurant called Indigo. It was quite cheap and very good. Later we climbed up to the Kapuzinerkirche and saw the Fortress from the other side of the river. We had a hot chocolate and cake in a Café and then we walked back to the railway station. It was already dark so we ´ve seen Salzburg also shining at night. After the 3 hour journey by train we arrived to Wien Westbahnhof and went dancing to a club, just for a while. It was a great day.

Participants: me, Véro, Karolina, Láďa, Julien, Anja and Karol.

Last dinner with Anita

Anita came to Vienna again but only for 1 night and so we did a dinner together at least. She is back in Hungary now but I am going to visit her and Andi in spring in Budapest. This picture was made already before Christmas but I don´t have any from Tuesday.

Skiing at Hochkar

On Saturday I finally went skiing with Anna, Tobias, Kim und Ben (french friend of Anna), all of ous CEMS people :-). We decided for Hochkar and it wasn´t bad. The resort is nice but it was raining the whole day so the snow was wet and conditions not really perfect. But I was satisfied. We ended up in the after-ski and had some Glühwein.
